How to play Praetorians in your browser
Return to the ancient world in Praetorians, the classic real-time strategy game. This browser project brings its solo game and multiplayer rooms to a desktop tab.
Open the gamePlay solo
You can play solo without a website account. When game files are available on the server, the page prepares them automatically before starting.
If hosted files are unavailable, select Choose your game folder and choose your own installed copy containing Praetorians.exe. Profiles and saved games stay in this browser.
Play online with friends
- Register with your email, username, password and password confirmation. You can sign in immediately; there is no email verification step.
- Create or join a room on the website. Use a room password when you want only your friends to join.
- In the game, open Multiplayer → Continue. The host chooses Create Game; guests select that game and choose Join. Press Start when everyone is ready.
Your email and username
Sign in with your email address and password. Your email is not shown in the public room list. Your registered username is the name other players see in the website lobby and the name filled in for the game.
Usernames use 3–17 letters, numbers or underscores. If you already have an older account without an email, register with that same username and current password to add your email.
Private rooms and player counts
Set an optional password when creating a room, then share it with your friends. A Private room asks for that password before another player can join.
The top bar shows signed-in players online and players connected in rooms. Multiple tabs for one account count as one player. Being in a room does not necessarily mean a battle has started.
Prepare the full game download
The page preloads the full hosted game by default. The first download can be large, so allow time for the progress bar to finish. When browser storage is available, completed files are kept locally and reused on later visits.
You can choose Skip and start now while it downloads. If browser storage is unavailable or full, some files may load as you play. Choosing a game folder uses the files already on your computer.
Mouse and unit controls
Click inside the game to capture your mouse. Press Esc to release it and use the rest of the page. Browsers that block capture still allow the cursor to work inside the game.
Double right-click to make selected units run. Double left-click to select your units visible on the screen.
Browser and sound
Use a current desktop version of Chrome or Edge, with a mouse and keyboard. The browser runs the game locally, so performance depends on your computer as well as the connection used for the first download.
Sound starts after your first click or key press. The largest supported audio buffer is selected by default to help reduce audio gaps.
